Solstice / Standstill
Why did the druid bring a ladder to the solstice? He heard it was the high point of the year...
What’s wrong with my jokes?! I was going to come on here and tell you about everything that’s going on in the coming weeks and how I have done a bunch of readings inc. the one when the other poet was drunk as hell and got all handsy and isn’t it crap female poets have to put up with this still, EVEN NOW IN 2025, blabla blablabla blaaaaa…. but then I read Suzannah Evans’ great post about the necessity of us poets laughing at ourselves and I went on a wild shamanic journey this week (yes I did) which reminded me what a massive part of my life joy and laughter is, so I’m just going to tell you about Lost Mythos instead cos it’s funny as f*ck. We’re about to take it on the first leg of our West Country tour …
A night of comedy, music and poetry for the ages, Lost Mythos is a parish council meeting like no other. Fresh from our recent album collaboration, the haunting soundscapes of Mara Simpson and poems from Yours Truly take us back to a weird, forgotten Albion. Meanwhile, comic Emma Kernahan guides us through this mythical meeting agenda, blending unruly local folklore and stories from modern rural life. A show which simultaneously embodies and explores ancient archetypes and questions the roots of our yearning for them, Lost Mythos is ideal for fans of history, magic, and neighbourhood Facebook groups.
Our recent photoshoot with the brilliant Emilie Sandy gives you an idea of the vibes. Come and find us along the way – we’d love to see you!

‘the epitome of hearthside magic … it somehow feels like it’s made up of moss, stones, rough fabric, splintered fenceposts and the smell of rain on leaves.’ ~ Joe Muggs, music journalist
“a wholly immersive, bewitching experience...’ ~ Caroline Sanderson, Bookseller Editor
